JIM MAYA - Whale Watch Captain
A lifelong naturalist and retired school teacher, launched Maya's Westside Whale Watch Charters in the spring of 1997.
Jim graduated from Indiana University in 1962. He taught in the public schools of Indiana, California and Washington state for the next thirty-five years.
Jim and his wife, Carolee, visited San Juan in 1988. It was love at first sight! Within two years they were building a home on the west side of the island, where they could be close to the water and watch the orcas passing by.
Maya's Westside Charters specializes in whale/wildlife watching and photography charters. Jim is a great captain and always accommodating. He loves to share lots of fun stories, jokes and photos with his guests.
